THOMAS J. MCINERNEY
Thomas J. McInerney, an expert in Insurance and Investment Management, in Senior Advisor at the Boston Consulting Group.
Mr. McInerney is former top executive at ING Group and Aetna, was most recently Chief Operating Officer and member of the global management board of ING Insurance from October 2009 through December 2010. In that role, he led ING's insurance and investment management businesses-including pensions and retirement services-worldwide. The businesses had over €425 billion of assets under management, €26 billion of premiums, and 35,500 employees.
From April 2006 through October 2009, McInerney served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ING Americas. He joined the company in December 2000 when ING acquired Aetna Financial Services, where he was President. McInerney joined Aetna in 1978 and held a variety of investment, business, and corporate positions during his career with the company.
McInerney has been active with the American Council of Life Insurers and The Financial Services Roundtable for decades, serving on each association's board and CEO committee. He currently serves on the boards of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Operation Hope and on the President's Advisory Council of Elon University.
McInerney graduated with honors from Colgate University in 1978 with a BA in Economics, and he received an MBA, with a concentration in Finance and Investments, from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 1982.
